My first encounter with this Filipino staple was when I was quite young.

Whenever my mum could get a hold of this homeland delicacy she would fry it up, the smell would fill the house. We would have it with rice. The saltiness hitting you like a tonne of bricks.

It's not something that was easy to access back then and even writing about it makes me crave it, which is quite bizarre.

I actually can't believe I haven't introduced this to my fam?! I wonder if our local Asian grocer stocks it? Fingers crossed that they do!
